Chapter 11: Getting Other Webmasters To Promote Your Site
Idea 78: Create A Link To Us Page
You can pay other sites to link to you (see Idea 57: Starting An Affiliate Program), but if you have a good quality site with interesting content, there will be probably be at least some other webmasters who want to link to your site for free (or perhaps specific pages on your site).
You can encourage webmasters to link to your site (for free) by:
- Tell them that it's allowed (some webmasters don't link to sites unless they know that the owner is okay with it).
- Give them some suggested text links, banners, graphics, etc., that they can use.
- Tell them they can use their own text or graphics for links if they prefer not to use the ones that you provided.
The usual way to offer this encouragement is to create a "Link To Us" page, containing all the necessary information, graphics, etc. Do make sure this page is easy for your visitors to find (perhaps include it in the menu or footer for every page), as it does no good if it remains unseen.
