Appendix A:
How The eBook Was Created
Creating the eBook was quite straightforward, here's how (in summary) I did it:
- I prepared the text of the eBook in HTML, and saved all the files to a folder on my hard-disk.
(If you wanted to create your own eBook, you could write it directly in HTML code, you could use an HTML editing program, or you could even use a Wordprocessor with a Save As HTML facility).
- I used CoverFactory
to prepare the 3D-style images of the eBook cover.
(You could also use CoverFactory to prepare eBook cover images. There's even a free trial version available, so you can try-before-you buy).
- For this particular eBook, I didn't need a whole bunch of additional graphics. For those graphics that I did need, I simply made them using the Paint accessory which comes with Windows.
(You could use any paint program which can save into JPEG, GIF or PNG format to prepare graphics for your eBooks).
- I placed all the graphics files (from step 2 and 3) in the same folder as the HTML files (from step 1) that I had prepared.
- Then I converted ("compiled") all the HTML and graphics into an eBook using Activ E-Book Compiler
.
(You too could use Activ E-Book Compiler , and, as with CoverFactory , there's a free trial version, so you can try the program out before deciding if you want to buy it).
