Idea 50: Discussion Board Signatures
There are many online discussion boards on all kinds of topics. (We've also discussed setting up your own discussion board previously - see Idea 31: Host A Discussion Board)
While most good discussion boards do not allow blatant ads. However, many do allow you to leave a short text link at the bottom of your messages, or set up a Sig which appears in every one of your posts, provided that you are actually participating in the discussions.
Rules about these things vary, so make sure you read the board's rules before posting. And, remember, blatant ads usually aren't allowed... so make sure that when posting you are actually participating and not just advertising.
Note: Appendix B includes a list of some Internet business discussion boards. While these can be great places to ask questions and just shoot the breeze, unless your product/service/site is of particular interest to Internet business people, you should try to find boards related to your particular subject (example: if your site is about Pets, try to find some discussion boards where you can find Dog and Cat owners).
