Chapter 5: Leveraging Your Visitors
Idea 25: Surveys
Surveys are a popular way of gathering information from your visitors and customers.
But, a well-designed survey can also be fun (or at least interesting) for the participant.
And, aside from the value of information that you gather, surveys can also be used to increase the number of page views that your site receives. For example, if you have a 10 question survey, you'll get at least 10 page views from each participant (aside from any additional page views you get where people read about your survey results, etc.). And, those page views can be turned in Banner Exchange (see Idea 18: Banner Exchanges) or Text Link Exchange (see Idea 19: Text Link Exchanges) credits for getting even more visitors to your web site.
- If your survey has just has one question (a "poll") you could use our Poll Script
.
- For more complicated types of surveys, many different scripts are listed in script directories like HotScripts.com
.
One final point: Some surveys have proven so compelling that they have formed pretty much the entire basis for popular web sites - example: www.hotornot.com.
